And Away We Go!

Welcome, 2014-2015 School Year.  Please be kind.

So far, so good!  I actually quite love the first week of the school year.  The school smells like fresh paint and wax, all my pens and pencils are new and full, my bulletin boards are new and improved, and we get new parking tags and lesson plan books.  Out with the old, in with the new!  And my Lilly planner continues to be a delight.

My classes this semester include English III Literature (American lit!  John Smith!  Thomas Jefferson!  Emily Dickinson!), Accelerated English III Grammar (term paper!  Summer Reading paper!), AP Rhetoric (Brave New World!  Summer Reading!  rhetorical concepts!), and Fundamentals of Reading (vocabulary!  test-taking skills!  vocabulary!!).  It's a full load of six classes/four preps, but my schedule is a fulfilling one.  I really enjoy all these classes--and so far, the kids and I are in our honeymoon phase--lots of "yes, ma'am" and "please."  This will wear off a little in a while, but as of today, I have no kids or classes to dread.

Entre nous, though, the best thing about school's starting is planning the outfit du jour.  Regardez:
My mama got me this outfit!  First day of school ensemble!  Grandma's jewels joined me in the first day of school festivities.  Et aussi:

My second day outfit!  The top is pink (it sparkles!), the ankle pants are mint green, and the sweater is beige.  I look like spumoni!  :-)  But I am also very excited about my newest purchase:  a LABEL MAKER.  If you do not have a label maker, you are missing a fantastic opportunity to organize ALL THE THINGS.  I am currently using it to organize my binders and my handouts and folders, but then I discovered that the labeling possibilities are really endless.  Look at my lesson plan book!

Do you SEE the hearts??  I have ENDLESS choices for fonts and sizes and symbols.  If you stand too still next to me, you might find yourself labeled--and feeling decorated and organized all in one fell swoop.  The power of a label maker is pretty fabulous.

So here it is, my nineteenth year.  One week almost down, thirty-five to go!!
