A New Year, A New Post!

It's been AGES since I've posted, but I just haven't been doing anything extraordinarily post-worthy--unless teaching, gym-ing, grocery-shopping, etc. count as blog fodder . . . .  Perhaps they do!  If that is the case, then today has been a banner day, as I got up and had waffles, went to the gym, did some Walmart-ing, went to the pharmacy (my new fave place!  Migraine meds to be had there!), and then made cookies with my new mixer!

Works like a CHAMP.  I've had an inexplicable craving for Mexican Wedding Cake cookies since, like, Halloween (no idea where this came from.  I only discovered these cookies in my last few years and found them to be tasty . . . but right now, I could eat them for every meal.  Hm.).  So today, I have the inclination AND the time simultaneously, so now I'm the proud baker of about three dozen of these marvels.  Even though the recipe promised a "yield of five dozen."  My cookies *might* be a tad more sizable than the regular cookies.  Whatevs.  They are delish, if I do say so myself.
See?  Not exactly five dozen.  Hmph.
The Arty Shot
Yum!  Looking forward to making dinner just so I can get to the dessert!  You're welcome to come over--I have tea, too.  :-)

Also!   I must tell you about my two latest obsessions!  First, my new phone!  Ta-da:
My iPhone 6!  I got it, not, as you might assume, because I am a closet techie who likes new toys.  No, sir.  I *needed* this phone.  My old one was getting slow and losing charge quickly, etc., etc., but this new one is LIGHTNING FAST.  Also helps that it isn't bogged down with old messages, pictures, and apps.  There is something a little freeing in the fact that this phone is brand-spanking-new.  The lady at Verizon wasn't able to transfer anything but my contacts over, and at first, I was a little bummed, but after having had it for a week, I've been pleased that the only apps on the new phone are the ones I use every day, and there are no pics lingering from four and five years ago.  Lots of things have happened since then, and it's cleansing, somehow, to be free from some of those old memories.  New phone for the new year, ready for new memories.

And this!
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins will be the reason I have circles under my eyes on Tuesday for school.  It is a little bit like Gone Girl meets The Mystery of Mercy Close--missing wife with an unreliable (because alcoholic) narrator--and a mix of those two (amazing, favorite) authors:  Gillian Flynn and Marian Keyes.  Am RIVETED.  Can't put it down.  As a matter of fact, I'm going to hit "publish" on this blog and eat some dinner so I can read my book and eat my cookies.  Au revoir, mes amis!
